The Imo State Water and Sewerage Corporation (ISWSC) convened a mandatory General Staff Meeting on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, at the Corporation’s Headquarters. The meeting was collaboratively organized by the leadership of Organized Labour within ISWSC and the Office of the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Chizoba Justin Udegbe.The meeting commenced with an opening prayer led by Ms. Charity Obinna, setting a solemn tone for the day’s proceedings. This was followed by an interactive session of staff introductions across all departments to foster interdepartmental familiarity and enhance communication. In accordance with established tradition, the symbolic presentation of the Kolanut was observed, marking the formal start of deliberations.Comrade Chigozie Adimoha served as the moderator for the session, while Comrade Kenneth Ukaoha gave the opening remarks, emphasizing the significance of unity and cooperation within the Corporation.Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Uche Nwaigwe, underscored the need for unwavering discipline, commitment, and professionalism among staff. He urged all personnel to uphold the ethics and guidelines of the civil service, reminding them of their responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the organization’s goals. Comrade Nwaigwe also conveyed the Executive Governor’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, particularly in relation to salary reviews and general working conditions. He further noted the proposed implementation of a clock-in/clock-out system by the State Government to enhance workplace accountability and monitor staff attendance.Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director/CEO, the Head of Engineering, Engr. Boniface Onyeji, commended Engr. Chizoba Justin Udegbe for his visionary leadership and the remarkable strides made under his administration. He expressed appreciation to the NLC Chairman for his forthright address and reaffirmed the importance of discipline, respect for departmental heads, and commitment to duty. Engr. Onyeji further issued a strong reminder that all official vehicles, including motorcycles, are to be used exclusively for work-related activities and must be handled with utmost care, as they remain shared assets of the Corporation.Also speaking, the Head of Administration, Mr. Bright Uzoukwu, encouraged staff to demonstrate punctuality and diligence in their respective roles.
