TWO-DAY VISIT OF THE CLEAN NIGERIA: USE THE TOILET CAMPAIGN TO IMO STATE FOR UPSCALING OF IMPLEMENTATION OF SANITATION AND HYGIENE ACTIVITIES
Imo State SURWASH Program hosted visitors from the Clean Nigeria Campaign for a Two-Day working visit which took place on 6th and 7th of June 2024 at the SPIU Office.
The Program’s objective is for the Upscaling of Implementation of Sanitation and Hygiene Activities in the state.
Participants at the event includes the Deputy Director/ National Coordinator CNC from the FMWR Mrs. Chizoma Opara, the Chief Scientific Officer Sanitation & Hygiene for CNC from the FMWR Mrs. Okolo Chinyere, the SPC of the SURWASH Program in the state Engineer Udegbe Chizoba J, the Managing Director ISWSC Engr. Peter Chukwuma, the General Manager RUWASSA Mr. Chika Edom, the SPIU officers of the SURWASH Program, Staff of ISWSC, ISSTOWA, and RUWASSA, and the State Task Group on Sanitation drawn from Ministries, LGA WASH Coordinators, and CSOs.
The program looked into the overview of the NG-SURWASH Program, Overview of the Clean Nigeria Campaign CNC, Sanitation and Hygiene related DLIs, Discussions on ODF and CLTS++.
The DD/NC was elaborative as she spoke on the critical need for Imo State to achieve ODF and the measures that needs to be applied to propagate CLTS ++.
Further into the program, the participants looked into the Overview of CLTS++ Approach, and the M&E template and indicators for monitoring. The program was fruitful and educative for all participants as they expressed huge satisfaction over the visit.
As a closing Remark, the SPC thanked all participants and urged for synergy and continued efforts to achieving the aims of the NG-SURWASH Program in Imo State on both Water and Sanitation.
