In continuation of the implementation of Performance Improvement Action Plan (PIAP) activities and the PDO for Q4, Imo State Water and Sewerage Corporation (ISWSC) today appeared before the Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Statistics (MBEPS) in the 2024 Budget Bilateral Discussion with MDGs held at MBEPS Conference Hall, Imo State Civil Service Secretariat Complex, Owerri.
In his opening address, the Managing Director and CEO of ISWSC Engr Emeka Celestine Ugoanyanwu re-echoed the Commissioner of MBEPS Hon Christopher Osuala’s comment that the budget defence is not an examination but a learning process, emphasizing the Corporation’s commitment to transparency and improvement.
During the defence session, based on their evaluation the panel suggested that a political ward be added to an employee’s name on Page 16, and the refund of medical expenses on Page 31 be expunged. The panel also emphasized the importance of having a policy trust, ensuring that targets are time-bound and measurable. Page 44-45 highlighted a list of critical projects for inclusion in the 2024 budget, with the Managing Director noting that projects with external components signify a grant. Meanwhile, 2023 (not 2024) was a minor amendment was effected on the date of the list of retirees on the budget.
After the session, the Commissioner of Budget, Economic Planning, and Statistics expressed convincing satisfaction with ISWSC’s budget presentation, commending the Corporation for its diligence and commitment. He urged the agency to take note of the suggestions and corrections made during the session for the final appearance scheduled for Thursday this week.
