In major continuation of the implementation of the Performance Improvement Action Plan (PIAP) and the PDO for Q3, ISWSC led St Global Services (Nig) Ltd, one of the consultants for Environment and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and Abbreviated Resettlement Action Plan (ARAP) projects, to stakeholders engagement.
The first day of the stakeholders engagement took place on 4 September 2023 at Federal Housing Estate, Egbeada, with Engr Goodluck and General Sunday Chikwe, leading the discussion for the housing estate, while the Managing Director and CEO of ISWSC Engr Emeka Celestine Ugoanyanwu standing for the Corporation. The consultant was represented by John Ohaekwe, Williams Onwuchekwe and Sabastine Iyoghebha, all of whom discussed the purpose of their visit.
A day later, the engagement took place at IMHE with Director of Works. Another engagement took place at Umuguman Water Scheme, where stakeholders at the area were engaged. ESMP and ARAP initiatives are aimed at ensuring sustainable development and minimizing social and environmental impacts during construction and rehabilitation of any projects.
The exercise was not just about stakeholders engagement because the consulting firm led by ISWSC took the opportunity to inspect the Corporation’s facilities and pipeline networks around the areas where connection will pass through. ISWSC’s Head of Water Services, Engr Henry Adiruo led the ISWSC team on the fieldwork. Nkechi Uzor, SPIU, Gender & Social Officer; Ndubueze Nwachukwu, RRT Member; Chidiebere Iherue, Environmental Officer; Augusta Chinasa Amukamara, Social Officer; Engr Ugochukwu Chijioke, SPIU Officer; and Christopher Ononukwe, ISWSC Communication Officer were among the team on the field.
Recall that on August this year, ISWSC Tender Board received shortlisted two prominent consultants for the Category B Projects, each presenting their unique approach to address environmental and social concerns.
