In a significant stride towards the continuation of the implementation of Performance Improvement Action (PIAP) and the PDO for Q2, Imo State Water and Sewerage Corporation (ISWSC), on 11 September, facilitated the construction of external diesel tank and a successful delivery of fresh diesel to power the 500Kva generator at Imo State Civil Service Secretariat, Owerri.
The secretariat’s water supply project, a crucial initiative aimed at providing clean and reliable water to the civil servants and other people within the area, relies on a 500Kva generator for its continuous operation. The upgrade is to bolster performance and sustainability.
Expressing his gratitude for the collaborative effort, ISWSC’s Managing Director, Emeka Celestine Ugoanyanwu, extended appreciation to the Head of Service for his invaluable cooperation. Ugoanyanwu also took the opportunity to thank Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State, for his unwavering support.
The initial fundamental design error which makes the water project very expensive to operate and unsustainable would be addressed by the upcoming World Bank-supported SURWASH project to not only ensure the seamless and sustainable operation of the water project but also nip in the bud the prevalence of open defecation within the secretariat.
