In a significant continuation of the implementation of the Performance Improvement Action Plan (PIAP) activities and the Project Development Objectives (PDOs) for Q2, ISWSC has once again received representatives of the USAID/Mercy Corps.

Led by Dimeji Akinhanmi and Abiola Fetuga, the team embarked on a mission to assess the status of the facilities at Otamiri Waterworks. This evaluation came as a follow-up to the visit that took place around June, where the ISWSC received Mercy Corps. During this first visit, the key management staff and the Managing Director/CEO of ISWSC, Engr Emeka Celestine Ugoanyanwu, engaged with the USAID consultant to discuss major activities programmed for the Corporation. The focal point of these activities remains the rehabilitation of specific projects at Otamiri Waterworks and Egbeada Booster Station.

Akinhanmi and Fetuga, leading the USAID/Mercy Corps delegation this time alongside with some staff of ISWSC Engr Boniface Onyeji, Head of Engineering; Engr Stanislus Okolie, the Resident Engineer; and others, delved into the heart of the matter by conducting site inspection at the Otamiri Treatment Plant. The site visit aimed at ascertaining the current status of the projects in relation to the proposal put forth to the USAID. The collaborative initiative between Mercy Corps and ISWSC holds the promise of enhancing water treatment and distribution facilities, ultimately benefiting the communities that rely on these essential resources. As the evaluation phase concludes, the combined efforts of USAID/Mercy Corps and ISWSC are poised to bring tangible improvements to the water supply infrastructure in the state.

Meanwhile, recall that the Engr Ugoanyanwu had recently led the representatives of USAID/Mercy Corps to the Office of the Honourable Commissioner of Water Resources, Lady Anne Dozie. This interaction emphasized the dedication of all stakeholders to the successful completion of the rehabilitation projects, showcasing a united effort towards ensuring reliable and accessible water supply for the residents of Imo State.
