NG-SURWASH: MANAGEMENT SUB-COMMITTEE FINALIZES REVIEW OF ISWSC’S CORPORATE PHILOSOPHY, MAKES AMENDMENTS ON THE FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS

In continuation of the implementation of the Performance Improvement Action Plan (PIAP) for Q2 and the PDO of the NG-SURWASH programme, the ISWSC Management Sub-Committee has finalized the review of the existing Corporation’s Corporate Philosophy. This activity complies with the Sub-Committee’s mandate aimed at fine tuning the philosophy to promote and reflect inclusion, internal diversity, community engagement and social equity in line with the Corporation’s avowed determination to remain a resilient Utility of the Future (UoF). This is also to ensure that the Corporate Philosophy meets the best-fit practices.

In line with the mandate given to the ISWSC Management Sub-committee to review the existing Corporate Philosophy of the Corporation, the Sub-committee painstakingly came up with the following:

Vision

To be the most resilient innovative water and sanitation utility in Africa by the year 2035

Mission

Provision of sustainable affordable safely managed water and sanitation services to residents of Imo and its environs through community engagement, internal diversity, and the use of environmentally friendly technology

Core Values

Customer satisfaction, collaboration, social inclusion, professionalism, integrity, transparency and accountability (CuCSPITA)

In essence, the Subcommittee’s amendments include but not necessarily limited to the use of:

1) ‘Available’ (in the mission statement) which was expunged since it is redundant

2) ‘Teamwork’ in the core values to be replaced with ‘collaboration’ since the latter encompasses the former

3) The acronym ‘CUCSPITT’ to be replaced with ‘CuCSPITA’, given that ‘accountability’ is different from ‘transparency’ and the coined abbreviation of ‘customer satisfaction’ is ‘Cu’ (not ‘CU’ to avoid ambiguity)

The Sub-committee also noted that the main reason for these amendments is to come up with the Corporation’s Corporate Philosophy that is more inclusive and comprehensive as well as easier for recognition and recollection.
