ISWSC Tender Board/Committee has been inaugurated in continuation of the Performance Implementation Action Plan (PIAP) and the PDO of the NG-SURWASH programme.
In his remarks, the Managing Director/CEO of Imo State Water & Sewerage Corporation (ISWSC) Engr Emeka Celestine Ugoanyanwu stated that the inauguration complied with Imo State Public Procurement Law No. 12 of 2020 and international best practices on procurement, further noting that procurement is a critical factor to the success or failure of any project. In this regard, he affirmed that procurement process is an inalienable requirement of NG-SURWASH project.
The Managing Director also declared that the Committee constituted will henceforth follow Imo State Public Procurement Law and Guidelines without favouritism in order to avoid unforeseen litigations against the Corporation that may arise in the future. He also urged members of the Board to be more professional and shun any forms of sharp practices during service delivery.
“With this Tender Board in place, ISWSC can now commence registration of contractors and processing of documents for award of contracts,” he further added.
While commending Governor Hope Uzodimma for his steadfast commitment towards due process and repositioning of Imo WASH industry, the Managing Director said that the WASH sector prior January 2020 was in a terrible position until the governor came on board.
