TRAINING BY USAID TECHNICAL SUPPORT MISSION ON SUSTAINING THE USE OF THE ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING ERP, HELD AT THE CONFERENCE HALL OF ISWSC ON MONDAY, 20TH SEPTEMBER 2021.
Several individuals have often been accosted recently by the system called the “ERP”, but it has been an abstract tendron to a lot of us.
ERP means Enterprise Resource Planning. It is designed to solve situational challenges associated with planning and harmonization of information or data.
Today witnessed a huge training on “SUSTAINING THE USE OF THE ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING SOLUTION”.
The training was carried out by the USAID Technical Support Mission which includes Mrs. Bukola Etimatie (Senior MEL Advisor who manages and oversees USAID E-WASH MEL Activities and Initiatives) and Engr. Soni Elisha (Utility Operations Advisor).
The duo indulged to rectify problems associated with the ERP and impact the knowledge of what is called “Sustainability Plan” into the assigned staff of the corporation.
Categorically, they spoke on the Seven (7) Modules of the ERP which includes:
1. Billing and collection
2. Finance and Accounts
3. Payroll
4. Human Resources
5. Customer Relations Management
6. Asset Maintenance Management
7. Monitoring and Evaluation
Two other modules being run by some other states which is intended to be added soon includes:
A. Quick Teller
B. Pay Direct
The Inter-switch system is however in charge of these two.
Secondly, with several illustrations and diagrammatic flows, they spoke about the ERP being a strengthening base for the system.
Furthermore, the increase in speed, accountability, and transparency amongst departments was highlighted as a core bases for the ERP.
Have you ever heard about something called “Audit Trail”? It is that system that limits or prevents fraudulent or un-required changes in the Enterprise Resource Planning system.
Finally, the training was indeed resourceful as participants took turns at asking important questions and solutions were proffered.
The training continued with an Evaluation by all participants and was concluded by the meeting between the Technical Support Mission and all Heads of Departments.
In attendance at the training included the MD/CEO ISWSC Engr. Emeka Ugoanyawu FNSE FNIWE NPOM KSJI FOSHA, The RTI STL USAID E-WASH Imo State Mr. Eutychus John, the USAID E-WASH Utility Technical Specialist UTS Engr. Madu Ihedioha , all HOD’s ISWSC, and all ERP representatives from all departments.
On a lighter note and refreshments being served, MD/CEO ISWSC Engr. Emeka Ugoanyawu FNSE FNIWE NPOM KSJI FOSHA gave huge accolade to everyone that participated in the training and encouraged all staff to support the development of the Corporation.
DAY 2: TRAINING BY USAID TECHNICAL SUPPORT MISSION ON SUSTAINING THE USE OF THE ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING ERP, HELD AT THE CONFERENCE HALL OF ISWSC ON TUESDAY, 21ST SEPTEMBER 2021.
Today marks the second day of the scheduled training by the USAID Technical Support Mission on SUSTAINING THE USE OF THE ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING credibly handled and delivered by Mrs. Bukola Etimatie (Senior MEL Advisor who manages and oversees USAID E-WASH MEL Activities and Initiatives) and Engr. Soni Elisha (Utility Operations Advisor).
The training also centered on Integrating Billing, software, Customer Relations Module, Commercial, Assets Management, Accounts, Engineering, Water Quality modules and overall sustainability of USAID E-WASH intervention in Imo State.
The scheduled training took a different turn today as critical analysis was carried out practically and theoretically.
It started with Engr. Soni Elisha training the participants on calculations attributed to the ERP which includes:
A. Water Produced
B. Water Consumed
C. Non-Revenue Water, and
D. Cost of Marketing.
Mrs. Bukola Etimatie took over the baton as she engaged the participants on a serious motivational drill by mentoring the staff on the need to take the ERP seriously as it could only be achieved by supportive team work.
Furthermore, while she emphasized on the need for the Assessment/Evaluation being carried out by all participating staff to be continued, she took turns at explaining structuring and restructuring of several challenges enumerated. Mr. Olonede Olayinka (ERP System support Consultant) was also present to rectify the complaints and challenges being faced by some assigned staff.
Mrs. Bukola Etimatie took it further as she addressed the issue of Data Entry Personnel and designation by stressing on the KPI’s essential to achieve the desired results. On the challenge of data access due to limitations caused by personnel ID numbers, resourceful measures were taken to address the issue.
SECOND PHASE
The second phase of the training was conducted in various departments by the Technical Support Mission and the Consultant. They critically looked into various challenges encountered by the assigned staff and gave a keen solution on how to handle each task.
THIRD PHASE
THE DEBRIEFING OF THE MD/CEO ISWSC
The Final Phase of today’s activity was the debriefing of MD/CEO ISWSC Engr. Emeka Ugoanyawu FNSE FNIWE NPOM KSJI FOSHA on the activities carried out so far.
The Technical Support Mission reported on the two key factors for the mission which includes:
The ERP sustainability, and
The sustainability of the whole E-WASH Activities in Imo State.
Mrs. Bukola Etimatie articulately spoke on all Prospects of all Modules, the KPI’S, and the parameters to achieve the desired results.
Taking it further, Engr. Soni Elisha spoke on “SOCIAL STRATEGY IN SUSTAINABILITY AND UTILITY ADMINISTRATION”. Amongst other important focus on the topic, the essence of organizational team work was stressed in utmost importance.
Conclusively, after a session of total understanding without questions MD/CEO ISWSC Engr. Emeka Ugoanyawu FNSE FNIWE NPOM KSJI FOSHA was overwhelmed with joy as he commended the support of His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Executive Governor of Imo State in partnership with USAID at achieving a sustainable water sector in Imo state. He further gave accolade to the change which USAID has brought to the Management and staff of ISWSC as well as the entire Imo people.
He also thanked Mrs. Bukola Etimatie and Engr. Soni Elisha as well as Mr. Olayinka for their well-presented training and persistence at bringing out the best from the staff at achieving ERP results.
